Good show and good sound for an early 80's board. You can actually hear Phil!

Great Show from 81
One of the best downloads of the early 80's right here. Sweet stuff. A brilliant first set and then Jerry really starts to crank it up in Feel Like A
...
Stranger>Franklin's Tower to begin a monster second set. The Dead are hitting on all cylinders for this one and the sound is beyond good. A must download? Heck yeah.

perfect second set
I think this IS now underrated. This show used to be highly rated, then some revisionism was going on saying "well it's really not as good as Nassau..",
...
etc. Everything in the second set is just exactly perfect: you are hard-pressed to find better versions of Stranger>Franklin's; LostSaint (esp. Lost Sailor); He's Gone (check out the vocal dueling at the end!); Wheel (when it was still a rarity. Cooking Althea, and LIG>Deal, too. This is the first recording I've heard that really takes me back to the show. This was when they used to extend the bleachers at Hampton right down to the floor. We were on the first row of the risers, really close on the right (then Phil's) side. I'll never forget the energy; the band was SO fired up! Very highly recommended.

An underrated gem of a show!
Boy, I love this site! Why? Reason # 6 billion, it seems, is finding SBD quality versions of old hissy tapes like this one I only held onto b/c the show
...
itself was so good. I call this show underrated b/c the set list looks unremarkable and one could easily pass it by, but don't! Just check out the ridiculous jamming Jerry does on Let it Grow--he's playing notes inside of notes w/lightning speed and they're all letter perfect. The Althea is relaxed and groovy and finishes off w/a powerful push from Phil, and the Wheel is a tight piece of work as well. DL and enjoy and thankx for the sweet SBD!!!!

Twice is Nice
Although we are gifted to have such beautiful acoustics in our beloved Hampton for AUD recordings; this SBD is SWEET!. As with 83'(get da board!)having

both AUD/SBD is fabulous. We were not dissapointed at this show, FOTD,Let IT Grow and LRR (Bobby & Jer swappin' solos &slide) are some of the many clean and tight versions we were given. Once again the Hampton vibe was great, thnx for the recall of fellowship and Band/Audience trasference, Peace!
